PDO Thread Lifts

PDO Thread Lifts in Cranleigh, Surrey

PDO Thread lifting is a general term which applies to the use of PDO sutures to effect an aesthetic benefit that lifts and tightens sagging skin tissues through mechanical lifting and by inducing collagen production. The two main treatment types are skin rejuvenation which relies on collagen production to increase skin health and elasticity for a tighter tone, and lifting treatments which use barbed threads to physically lift/tighten the skin immediately while the long term benefits take time to kick in.

What are PDO threads

PDO is an acronym for POLYDIOXANONE threads, and they are essentially the cosmetic version of resorbable sutures used regularly in heart surgery. With an excellent safety profile, PDO suture use has nearly 40 years of medical data supporting its use.

PDO is manufactured through the polymerisation of p-dioxanone to create a resorbable sterile filament which when placed in the skin initiates fibrosis in the surrounding tissue giving rise to the formation of type I and type II collagen.

Over time the PDO thread is fully resorbed by the body through enzymatic hydrolysis with the threads breaking down with 6 months to a year leaving behind the resultant heathier skin.

How do PDO Thread lifts work?

The Threads are placed in or just under the skin and stimulate collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic acid. The collagen produced will provide firmness which will help tighten and lift the skin tissue. The elastin provides resilience and elasticity to the skin, whilst Hyaluronic acid binds to water hydrating and plumping the skin. In addition threads also stimulate new blood vessels and improve lymphatic drainage , improving the skin quality resulting in a smoother, brighter appearance. Results start immediately and continue to improve for 6-8 months , with results lasting up to 18-24 months

PDO Threads FAQs

Am I suitable for threads?

At your consultation we will ask you for:

1: A full medical history

2: Ask if you have had any previous cosmetic surgery or had permanent fillers placed in the past

3: Examine your skin and determine the degree of skin laxity and subcutaneous facial volume

Only after taking this history and discussing all the benefits and risks will we be able to determine your suitability for Thread treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Only one treatment is needed. There is an immediate 30% improvement, with results continuing to improve over the next 6 to 12 months, with results lasting up to 2years.

How are threads administered?

Threads are inserted either in the Dermis or Subcutaneous tissue via a cannula. Prior to cannula insertion the area is anaesthetised for patient comfort.

What are the side effects?

As with all aesthetic procedures there is a risk of bruising and swelling, most feel minimal to moderate pain, and it is common to have issues with tightness and discomfort when eating and chewing for the first few days.

How much does it cost?

For a full face and neck thread lift the cost is £1600. For further PDO pricing options please click here.
